It was a black Sunday for the government and people of Anambra state southeast Nigeria as a yet to be identified killer stormed the residence of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Security, Mr Azubuike Ekwegbalu.

The incident which took place at his residence at the Commissioners’ Quarters, Awka, a high brow area for government officials, in the early hours of Sunday left many in shock.

Speaking to news men on condition of anonymity a resident revealed that the late Ekwegbalu, who hails from Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of the state, was a close relation to the wife of the governor.

The 43 year old Azubuike works for the state government as an appointee of the governor on security.

While wondering over what could warrant his gruesome killing residents demand that security operatives must do all that is possible to bring the killers to justice.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the spokesman for Anambra Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, said one suspect, who was seen in the premises had been arrested.

Haruna said, investigation into the matter has commenced and soon those behind the nefarious act will be unravelled and brought to book.

Meanwhile the remains of late Azubuike has been deposited in the mortuary after he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor at Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu teaching hospital, Awka.
