Reversal of Teachers Employment in Ekiti State.
The decision by the Ekiti State Government under Kayode Fayemi to reverse the employment of teachers and subsequent weak clarifications have exposed the inadequacies and insensitivity of the APC led administration.
It shows that Ekiti government decisions are never based on needs assessment but mere political propaganda and cheer wickedness.
If indeed government schools in Ekiti lack required man power, what is the fate of students now that government has refused to employ teachers? How do we ensure a knowledge based economy if we deny our young ones access to quality education? We are supposed to be the fountain of knowledge.
U-turn on the employment of teachers is an indication that Education is not a priority of Governor Fayemi led administration. Granted the adverse effects of covid19 on the world economies, educating the future generation should not be a major victim of the lean purse of any serious government, especially Ekiti the so called “fountain of knowledge”
A country adjudged the poverty capital of the world should pay better attention to education as it is our only hope out of poverty. A nation that denies poor children quality education is ignorantly building an army of rebels.
Do I need to remind the Ekiti State Governor that employment and training of teachers is not a luxury but critical to a sustainable economy of any state or nation. If we don’t want these young ones to administer a poorer state than we presently have, education must be given the priority it deserves. After all, it is the only industry in Ekiti state today.
